The Master of Energy Studies (MES) is a highly innovative program providing a unique trans-disciplinary, co-badged and industry focussed Master's degree for professionals seeking to have an impact on the transition to a low carbon future.

The program is delivered across Australia by three leading universities: The University of Queensland, The University of Newcastle and The University of Western Australia. 

The MES is designed by leading academics and industry to provide a unique perspective of key issues impacting on achieving a low carbon future - including economics, technology options, legal frameworks, energy efficiency, carbon management and climate change policies.

Scholarships

There are several scholarships available to study the Master of Energy Studies (CRICOS Code: 073264E).

AusAID Australia Awards Africa

Application for AusAID Australia Awards Scholarships in eligible African countries are currently open for those of you interested in joining the IEC Master of Energy Studies commencing 2015.

Australia Awards Scholarships are long term development awards administered by AusAID. They provide opportunities for people from developing countries to undertake full-time undergraduate or postgraduate study at participating Australian universities (The University of Queensland is a participating institution)

You can study the Master of Energy Studies with an Australia Award Scholarship if Natural Resources Management; Sustainable Development; Environmental Management; Environmental engineering or Governance are listed in your country's top priority areas.

The AusAID scholarships are very generous and cover tuition fees and living expenses. Enrol in the program 

Master of Energy Studies students enrol through The University of Queensland.

Download, print and complete the International application form (PDF). Include with your application:

  •     Certified copies* of all transcripts of results, award certificates, grading systems, and translations (if required)
  •     Proof of English Language proficiency (if required)
  •     Payment of the AU$100 Application Fee (if you are not applying for a UQ scholarship)
  •     Please remember to sign the form
*A certified copy is a photocopy of an original document, which bears an original signature and stamp with a certification that the document is a true copy of the original, cited by a person approved to certify documents. Please note all pages of transcripts need to be certified. Certified copies of documents must be sent by mail. A photocopy, scan or facsimile of certified documents can only be accepted if sent by a UQ authorised representative. All documentation submitted becomes the property of the University and cannot be returned. Therefore, we strongly suggest that you make certified copies of your original documents and submit those instead.
 
Note your application must include a non-refundable Application Fee of AU$100, unless you are applying for a University of Queensland scholarship.
